Welcome to Grindletown

I am Grindle, Mayor and protector of this fair town. Adventurers like yourself are most welcome here. Please feel free to visit any of the fine establishments located throughout our fair town. A number of the finer sections of the town include The Barracks District, The Library, The Art Gallery, The Temple District, Zara's Tavern & The Portal Caves.

I promise that you won't be disappointed with each of the people running the before mentioned sections of the town. The majority of them are friends who have adventured with me in the past and I trust them with my life. Some of them are even members of the Grindletown Government- the council of seven.

Grindletown is ruled by a council of seven representatives gathered from the community. These seven people and the Mayor have formed to create a ruling council which come together to rule over Grindletown. They meet to discuss all sorts of maters ranging from trade to threats on the town. If you wish to learn more about the council of seven you can visit Kaylarn at the Grindletown Library. Here you will be able to learn more about our fair town and its people.

Where in the Realms is Grindletown?

Grindletown is a wonderful town located high in the mountains above the land refered to as Toril in the Forgotten Realms. The town is located along the North-Eastern Shores of the Moonsea. It can be found North of the runied city of Sulasspryn, in the Galena Mountains, not far from the city of Mulmaster. A small trail links Grindletown to a rough trade road from Sulasspryn, which allows travel West to Hulberg, Thentia and onto Melvaunt.

Merchants utilise this 'trade route' to import and export their wares. A number of Trading Companies are located in Grindletown and a lot more are expected to become more established here in future years. Especially with a Mayoral promise of caravan protection to and from the town.

One unusual feature of Grindletown, that has people flocking to the town to see, is the residence of the Mayor, Grindle Manor. A small keep appears to be floating in mid air just above the town proper. This is Grindle Manor and it is said to be held high above the ground by powerful magics, granted as a result of heroic deeds he undertook that saved the entire Dalelands from possible destruction. Then again...Grindle is an illusionist, so who knows what tricks the sneaky devil is up too!

Grindletown At A Glance

Adventurer, tourist, visitor or friend...here at a glance you can see what our newly created town has to offer. Not sure where you want to go or who you want to meet. Well here you are...a brief tour of our town. Take your time, look around and most of all enjoy the experience and come back again!

The Barracks

Please visit the Barracks District and learn more about the fine defenders of this town and their many exploits. Meet the renowned weapon masters or perhaps learn some new skills from them. Here you will meet the mighty Alphatonia a gladiator who earned his freedom many years ago. If learning new fighting styles, skills and the use of unusual weapons is up your alley...then the Barracks is the place for you!

The Library

If you are interested in learning about the history of Grindletown, please pay our local historian 'Kaylarn' a visit at the local Library. She is a wealth of information of Grindletown and other areas. Here you can read tome upon tome of interesting information on town's people, merchants and even the Protectors.

The Art Gallery

Grindletown is home to many famous artists known throughout the realms. They seem to flock here because of the expected solitude that a town high in the mountains is expected to bring. If you feel like being a bit more cultured please attend the local art gallery and inspect some of the enlightening paintings hung in our very own gallery.

The Temple District

If you are a priest, an adventuring party requiring healing or just wish to stock up on holy water, pop on over to the Temple District. There are many temples and a number of shrines here that can cater to most religions of the land. New priests who wish to establish a temple or shrine here are encouraged to approach the Mayor and bargin your case.

Zara's Tavern

If gossip is more your style, why not stay the night at Zara's Tavern. However, be fairly warned she does insist that you sign her Tavern Register so that she knows who you are in case you get a little roudy and break some of her wares. If hot information or gossip is your style...Zara is the one to see. She talks and listens to many people from the town and lands far away. She is a valuable resource of information.

The Portal Caves

Perhaps you would like to start out on a new adventure by travelling through a number of the local portals that lead to other worlds or perhaps visit the great sages or even talk to the oracles. If so then you had better enter the Portal Caves so that you can be on your way. The Portal Caves are home to numerous doors to other planes of existance, some friends some just passing aquaintances.

Barton's Messages

As Mayor of this fine town I am sometimes called away to other towns to ensure trade routes and alliances are made and kept. If you wish to contact me then it is perhaps best to visit Barton's Messages. Her carrier pigeons are pretty reliable. Just ask her to affix a message to my own personal pigeon and I'll get back to you or fix any problems the moment I arrive back in town.

The Protectors

Perhaps you would like to learn more about the town protectors, an unusual party who we have encouraged to make Grindletown their home and work with the soliders of the Barracks District to protect us from the many evil beings in the land who would want to conquer us.

Grindletown Renovations

I suggest that you take your time, stroll around, look at what the town has to offer and always remember that Grindletown is a new town and is constantly changing and growing to suit our location, trade and climate. Thus don't forget to come back and visit us and see what new and wonderful renovations we have made to our beloved town. You never know what you may be missing. Look around and enjoy your stay in our fair town.
